How Your Contractor Operations Team can get the Job Done - On Time, Every Time, at a ProfitContractor Operations: Processes & Principles for Success
Operations vary by industry and company. As a process practitioner, I will explain what is working for my contractor clients now.
Documenting contractor operating processes consists of experienced Project Managers and Field Technicians sitting down together, documenting and diagramming ways to get work done faster, better and cheaper. This is especially important for the manager—the sometimes forgotten person who supervises projects—or the field person who builds the building and services the customer. There are four ideas that must be understood in regards to operational processes:
1 Operations must be output oriented.
2 Teams must be developed.
3 Each manager must have the processes in place to leverage the team.
4 Each step in the process must be standardized and measured.
